The newest Mythical Pokemon has been introduced to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, so let’s talk about how to get your hands on it and what it can do!

Mythical Pokemon Pecharunt

The most recent Mythical Pokemon added in Scarlet and Violet is called Pecharunt, it’s a poison-type Pokemon that has been waiting in the land of Kitakami to reawaken.

Pecharunt rolls up poison it secretes from its shell in order to make Binding Mochi, a “treat”served to both people and Pokemon. Much to the chagrin of whoever takes part in the Binding Mochi, Pecharunt then uses chains to control those who eat its delicious delight. It also appears to bring out the deepest desires and powers of those who eat it.

A theory had long ago been crafted that says Pecharunt travelled to the land of Kitakami with the Loyal Three, each of whom it had taken over with its Binding Mochi. The theory states that Pecharunt did this to obtain certain masks coveted by an elderly couple who lived with it.

Pecharunt then found itself locked in battle with the Pokemon Ogerpon over the masks, which led to Pecharunt’s defeat. It then withdrew into its shell and became known to the locals as the Never-Rotting Peach — so it turns out what we all thought was just a shop decoration was actually the Mythical Pokemon Pecharunt all along!

Pecharunt stats

  • Category: Subjugation Pokemon
  • Type: Poison/Ghost
  • Height: 1′ (0.3m)
  • Weight: 0.7 lbs. (0.3 kg)
  • Ability: Poison Puppeteer

Pecharunt has the unique ability, Poison Puppeteer, which is a new ability introduced in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. It causes Pokemon that are poisoned or badly poisoned by Pecharunt’s moves to also become confused.

I can already see this move being an absolute rage-inducing play by any opponent. I would rather get one-shot with a critical hit than spend my entire battle getting hit by status-effect moves that force me to take all my turns either using items to remove those status effects or tanking them and losing my turn anyway, because my Pokemon can’t move.

Pecharunt’s other new move, Malignant Chain, is an attack that can launch a chain of poison that might leave its target badly poisoned.

So how exactly do you obtain the new Mythical Pokemon Pecharunt? Well, it’s actually pretty simple.

First, you have to play the epilogue for The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. But to play the epilogue, you have to complete a certain postgame event in Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet, as well as finish the stories of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask and Part 2: The Indigo Disk.

Once you’ve played through all the prerequisites, you’ll claim a Mythical Pecha Berry through Mystery Gift and head to Peachy’s in Mossui Town in Kitakami — there you’ll discover a mysterious link to Pecharunt!

What do you think of the new Mythical Pokemon Pecharunt? Will it be one that you add to your starting lineup, or will it get tossed in a PC somewhere never to be touched again?
